I am an avid reader, a crazy mother, a reluctant housewife. I am a wine-drinking, loud-laughing, biscuit-baking, thesaurus-toting, techno-loving geek with a soft spot for owl figurines. And I'm o.k. with that... usually :-)
I have a very deep abiding love of words... the rhythm, the rhyme, the composition and connotations... they all fill me with a quiet joy. My goal is to write. I don't know what, or when and until I figure it out, I see this blog as a great way for me to establish writing as a habit.
In 2012, after seeing my big brother take the leap into blogging reviews, I decided to follow in his footsteps. I will now be sharing and expanding on some of the book reviews from my Goodreads account. I tend to read mostly romances but also enjoy mysteries and suspense/ thrillers. I am also part of a RL bookclub and once a month will read a pick which could fall under any genre. Just to keep it simple :-) Rather than copy the stars rating system found on Goodreads, which I consider limiting, I'll employ the following rating system:
A: I loved it, would recommend it to all my friends, and will make sure I always have a copy available. When someone mentions this book in the future, I will know exactly what book they're talking about, will remember how I felt when reading it and will want to rave about it at the slightest provocation. An amazing book.
B: I really liked this book, would recommend for fans of this genre/author and wouldn't mind re-reading it at some point in the future. This was a memorable read. A great book.
C: I liked this book, but am unlikely to remember any particulars if asked about it in six months' time. A good book.
D: Meh. I didn't like it, but it may have had one or two redeeming features. I will give this author another chance in the future. A tolerable book.
E: I hated this book. I mourn the hours I will never recover that were spent reading this tripe. A waste of time, energy and money. I will go out of my way to warn people away from this story and am unlikely to try anything by this author in the future. A crappy book.
DNF: Did Not Finish. This isn't necessarily a bad book, however I could not connect with it. Sometimes I would rather put a book down and try again in a few months or a year than rate it badly because I wasn't in the right mood.
Please note these are only my opinions.
